چکیده
Abstract Background The effects of visceral adiposity on decreased lung function have drawn much attention. Recently, the index (VAI) has been proposed as a fat distribution and dysfunction marker. However, relationship between VAI not investigated. objective study was to analyze association evaluate potential predictor function. Methods We collected data from population-based 1786 subjects aged 40 years or older. All completed questionnaire underwent anthropometric measurements laboratory tests. Linear logistic regression models were developed assess Results inversely related FVC%predicted in men negatively associated with both FEV1%predicted women. In linear analysis, decrease each 10% increase 1.127% 1.943% women; 10%increase 0.663% 1.738% Further analysis revealed that positively correlated FVC FEV1 impairment Conclusions first show clear correlation Chinese population. could be simple reliable approach daily practice, individuals, especially women high VAI, should receive additional screening preventive interventions for respiratory disease.

Visceral Adiposity Index A reliable indicator of visceral fat function associated with cardiometabolic risk
RESULTS — All components of metabolic syndrome increased significantly across VAI quintiles. VAI was independently associated with both cardiovascular (odd ratio [OR] 2.45; 95% CI 1.52–3.95; P 0.001) and cerebrovascular (1.63; 1.06–2.50; P 0.025) events. VAI also showed significant inverse correlation with insulin sensitivity during euglycemichyperinsulinemic clamp in a subgroup of patients (Rs...

OBJECTIVE To individuate a novel sex-specific index, based on waist circumference, BMI, triglycerides, and HDL cholesterol, indirectly expressing visceral fat function. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS Visceral adiposity index (VAI) was first modeled on 315 nonobese healthy subjects. Using two multiple logistic regression models, VAI was retrospectively validated in 1,498 primary care patients in ...
متن کاملVisceral adiposity index is associated with significant fibrosis in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
BACKGROUND Metabolic factors have been associated with liver damage in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). AIMS To test a new marker of adipose dysfunction, the visceral adiposity index (VAI), in NAFLD patients to assess whether or not it is associated with host factors, and to investigate a potential correlation with histological findings. METHODS One hundred and forty...
متن کاملBody Adiposity Index and Associated Factors in Adults: Method and Logistics of a Population-based Study.
INTRODUCTION obesity is a public health problem that has increased considerably. Several techniques have been developed and used to measure the amount of body fat, or a combination of excess fat with some comorbidities. The Body Adiposity Index is a new method proposed to determine body fat and its validation is still limited. Methods and logistics of a population-based study reported in the li...

BACKGROUND The prevalence of prehypertension has increased in China, and prehypertension frequently progress to hypertension over a short time period; both have become public health problems. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the relationship between the Visceral Adiposity Index (VAI) and blood pressure (BP) in China. METHODS A cross-sectional epidemiological survey was conduct...
